Overview
A leading urban developer in Saudi Arabia is building new communities at several sites. Terra Drone Arabia supplied sharp, up-to-date satellite imagery so the client’s teams could plan and track progress from one reliable data source.
The Challenge
Large developments change fast. Old images go out of date, and sites in different cities are hard to follow. The client needed new, accurate pictures of each site, delivered on a regular schedule, with true map accuracy for planning.
Our Solution
We proposed a satellite imagery service for three development sites. Each site gets freshly tasked imagery at 30 cm resolution, meaning small features like roads, buildings and ground changes are clearly visible. The images are corrected to match real-world positions, so they can be used directly in mapping and GIS tools.
Technology Used
This project used satellite data, not drones. Our team offered:
- Mono and stereo imagery. Mono gives a flat, map-ready view. Stereo adds a second angle, which supports height and 3D work.
- Orthorectification. This removes distortion from the terrain and the camera angle.
- Pan-sharpening. This blends a sharp black-and-white image with colour for a clear, detailed view.
- Four bands: red, green, blue and near-infrared. The near-infrared band helps show vegetation and surface differences.
- Cloud cover limit of 15% or less to keep images usable.
How We Delivered
Satellites were tasked to capture each site every month for 12 months. Our team handled processing and sent the final images, with metadata, straight to the client’s own system. Where weather or satellite availability affected collection, the schedule was managed as a best-effort window.
